ATM's bring a whole new convenience. Although credit cards already work as cash, some people do not want to carry these plastic cards. That way, they can control their spending and avoid debt. They can just withdraw cash whenever they need it. Because you still need to find an ATM machine before they can withdraw, people will oftentimes not buy anymore if it is not so important. But if you do not take care of your ATM card, you can still lose money from scam artists. Here are some ways to avoid ATM scams.

1. Don't bring it out. ATM's are for emergency withdrawals. If you don't need to withdraw anything, don't bring it. If you are the type of person who may want to have some security blanket, then bring it with you but never bring it out unless you have to. Criminals on the prowl for possible ATM victims will usually follow their prey and then point a gun to them. They will then be led to an ATM machine where they will be asked to withdraw money at gunpoint.

2. Don't reveal the password to other people Don't ever tell anybody what your password is. You'll never know who will want to withdraw money from your account. If you are the type of person who rarely uses his or her ATM, you will not even notice that your card is missing. Usually, what these people will do is get your card, withdraw money from it and then replace it inside your wallet. You'll never know the difference. Not until you see the statement. Sometimes, people would not even notice especially if the withdrawal is minimal.

3. Keep track of your withdrawals and deposits. If you are depositing over the counter, you can ask for your balance right there and then. If however you are someone who deposit with an ATM, it is good to confirm the deposit was credited. It is good to keep your receipts and to keep track of the transactions that you have made. That way, you'll know if there are any discrepancies to your account.
